Halaqa series class announcements

On behalf of the Halaqa series team, I want to wish everyone Ramadan Mubarak. I hope you will have a blessed and rewarding Ramadan inshallah.

A few announcements regarding the classes with Shaykh Zahir.

1) Saturday beginner Arabic classes will start TOMORROW, September 6th at 8:00 AM at the Lote Tree Foundation. Any interested brothers or sisters are welcomed to attend the class.

2) Sunday Halaqa classes will resume next week Sunday September 14th at the Lote Tree Foundation at the regular time of 10:30. Hence, no classes will be held this Sunday September 7th.

Saturday Mornings, From 10 am – 12 pm

Classes are only open to Adult Sisters

Overview: This weekly class is part three of a series of three detailed modules on the rules of tajweed.

This course will include in-class assignments and homework. Students who would be interested in this course are those who can commit to the classes and the assignments given.

Textbooks:

• Tajweed Rules of the Quran by Kareema Czerepinski – Part 1
• Tajweed Rules of the Quran by Kareema Czerepinski – Part 2

Sunday Halaqah class break

As per Shaykh Zahir announcement during class last week, the Sunday Halaqah will be on break in August and will start again in Ramadan on Sunday September 7th, 2008.

In summary, classes will be canceled for the following days:

• August 3rd
• August 10th
• August 17th
• August 24th
• August 31st

When classes resume, Shaykh Zahir will continue the tafseer of Surah Luqman. Alhumdulillah, last class we completed up to verse 19.

New Arabic class

A beginners Arabic course will begin this Saturday August 2nd from 8:00AM – 9:30 AM at the Lote Tree foundation. In this Saturday’s class, an overview of the Arabic course and text will be presented. The next class will then start in Ramadan on Saturday September 6th at the same time.

Students who are interested in learning the language of the Quran and are able to wake up early on Saturdays will greatly benefit from this course.

Classes resume this Sunday

A reminder that Sunday Halaqa classes will resume this Sunday July 12th at 10:30AM. Please make an effort to attend this class, Shaykh Zahir will continue the tafseer of Surah Luqman.

30th Juz Hifz Starter Class

• Memorization of 30th Juz and 40 Hadith
• Learn basic Fiqh
• Develop love and desire to memorize entire Qur’an

Junior Islamic Class

• Learn to read Qur’an with fluency – completion of Qai’dah reader
• Memorize daily dua’s, learn Adab and Ahklaq
• Class taught by Shaykh Zahir Bacchus
• Note – this class runs from July 7 – Aug 1, 2008

Hifz Class

• Continuation of our successful Hifz program taught by Shaykh Abdul Wahid
• Any students who have partially memorized are eligible to enroll in this class and continue with an individualized program structured by the teacher

New sisters Halaqa class

Halqah: Excellence of Character

Description: This course for sisters only will examine the virtues and morals of a believer that has been defined by our prophetic tradition. Sisters that would be interested in this halqah would be those who are seeking knowledge to strengthen their character through the words and wisdoms of our pious masters.

Teacher: Ustadha Saiema Din Syed

Text: Students are not obliged to purchase texts for this halqah, however two main sources will be used; The Risala by Imam al-Qushayri and The Book of Assistance by Imam al-Haddad.

Date: Every Fridays starting Friday July 11, 2008 to September 5th, 2008

Time: 10:00am -11:00am

Registration Deadline: Monday June 30, 2008.
